When we experience difficult situations in life, we do our best to adapt and survive. Sometimes we may push our feelings away, find distractions, or try to mentally escape. These strategies might help us in the short-term, but over time our problems tend to resurface, often in the form of troublesome symptoms such as anxiety or depression.
The type of psychotherapy I provide involves getting real about what is happening for you and taking the time to explore your concerns in a healthy way. We talk about your feelings, thoughts and other things you may be experiencing. It is not always an easy process, but therapy can help you to identify and address the deeper reasons you are struggling, so you can effectively work through your difficulties and find your way forward.
As a therapist, my role is to support and guide you in the process. My training is from Toronto’s Centre for Training in Psychotherapy, where I completed a 6 year post-graduate program in applied psychodynamic psychotherapy. I have been in private practice since 2014. I am a registered psychotherapist in good standing with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario.
I currently have a limited number of morning and afternoon appointments available for a reduced rate. In order to qualify, you need to be a full-time student or living on a low income. You also need to be committed to the process of therapy and able to meet on a weekly basis for the duration of therapy. Normally people are in psychodynamic therapy for at least 6 months. If you are a post-secondary student or have group insurance benefits, your fee may be partially covered.
