Therapy is such a leap of faith. Good for you for considering it for yourself or for your teen. I hope I can offer you some support in navigating this complex mental health system and any related confusion or anxieties you may have.
I am a Registered Psychotherapist with a Master of Education in Counselling Psychology from U of T/OISE. I started working in mental health because of my personal and professional passion for supporting neurodivergent individuals (Autism, ADHD, Learning Disability, Gifted etc.). I have worked with children, teens and young adults with a variety of challenges such as social isolation/anxiety, procrastination, emotion regulation difficulties, suicidal thoughts/intent, and relationship challenges.
I have a strong value for supporting individuals in the arts (musicians, actors, comedians, painters etc) and LGBTQ2S+ identifying people, many of whom are neurodivergent themselves and can’t always afford therapy. Many people don't fit themselves under these categories. I welcome you here even if you don't. Let's have a conversation to see what you would like from therapy.
I use an eclectic approach to psychotherapy, which means I strive to tailor my approach to your needs by combining elements of psychotherapeutic modalities such as Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Existential, Relational, Solution-Focused and Cognitive Behavioural (CBT). The most important thing to know about my approach is that I believe in meeting you where you are at and collaborating with you on your goals, even if you don't really know what your goals are yet!
