Kumasi Jay Gwynne
Entering into therapy can be scary, but it doesn't have to be. Whether you are dealing with current problems or kicking up the dust around issues that have long been neglected, I will help you navigate your emotional world with compassion, sensitivity, and patience. You may fear the emotions that result from this exploration, but we will take things at your pace. You will always be the guide in our sessions, but I will help you along when needed. You can show up to our meetings happy, sad, anxious, angry, hurt, or with any other emotion or combination of emotions, and we will make sense of it together.
I also happily (but not exclusively) work with folks with any number of oppressions or facing discrimination of any kind including that related to race, gender, sex, ability, and sexual orientation.
I am a queer, trans, person of colour.
My previous experience includes working with HIV positive people, doing harm reduction outreach, working with youth populations, and with working people of colour.
My greatest hope and privilege is to be supportive of you in your journey of self-discovery.
I am a student therapist at the Toronto Institute for Relational Psychotherapy. I am happy to work with those who have never had a therapist before, along with those more experienced in therapy. I am currently working with a supervising therapist from my school.
Member of Canadian Association for Psychodynamic Therapy.
