Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)
I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with a Masters in Counselling Psychology from the University of Toronto/OISE with over ten years of counselling experience in the areas of women’s health, and sexual assault.
I support individuals on their journey of self-understanding with the goal of helping them feel more in control of their thoughts and feelings, more connected in their relationships with others, and able to experience peace and enjoyment in their life.
My own experiences of birthing and raising my three children led me to focus on supporting parents. I have extensive experience working with new mothers to ease the sometimes difficult transition into parenthood, and I am Perinatal Mental Health Certified (PMH-C) through Postpartum Support International. I offer practical strategies for parents of older children who are looking to improve family functioning and help their children become their best selves. My core belief is that you are the expert on your baby, your children, and your family.
I work from a collaborative, client-centred perspective. I integrate a trauma-informed approach with acceptance-commitment therapy, cognitive-behavioural therapy, relational, and emotion-focused therapy. I incorporate anti-oppressive/feminist therapy to consider how your experiences and behaviour are impacted by the social systems that you exist in. I understand that therapy is an investment, and we will set goals and work together to find the best tools and techniques to help you thrive.
With me, you will be able to share your story in a warm, judgement-free space and hopefully feel safe to experiment with a different way of being. You can visit my website at www.yzobelahyett.com if you would like to learn more about me.
